Gwendoline Torterat

Je suis chargée de recherche en anthropologie sociale au sein de l’UMR 8068 Technologie et Ethnologie des Mondes PréhistoriqueS (CNRS, TEMPS, Nanterre) et membre du réseau AGE (Archaeology and Gender in Europe) de l’EAA (European Association of Archaeologists). J’ai également été chargée de cours en anthropologie à l’université Paris Nanterre pendant 9 ans, ATER en socio-anthropologie à l’université d’Orléans et médiatrice culturelle pendant 10 ans dans plusieurs associations d’IDF. Mes recherches portent sur le travail du chercheur en archéologie et la construction des savoirs et des sciences en relation avec la Préhistoire. Au regard des mutations socio-techniques que l’étude de cette période connait depuis les années 1940, je m’intéresse aux coulisses des vies de ses savant.e.s en cherchant à comprendre comment le travail du passé agit concrètement sur les corps, la matière et la vie quotidienne. En suivant l’ombre laissée par les “patrons” de l’archéologie préhistorique, sur les chantiers, dans les archives, les laboratoires et les musées, je décris ainsi des manières de faire et d’être en coulisse tout en identifiant les mécanismes d’invisibilisation du travail à l’œuvre. Je développe mes enquêtes ethnographiques en France et en Israël à partir d’approches méthodologiques tournées vers l’audiovisuel et le documentaire. I am a research fellow in social anthropology at the UMR 8068 Technologie et Ethnologie des Mondes PréhistoriquesS (CNRS, TEMPS, Nanterre) and a member of the AGE (Archaeology and Gender in Europe) a network of the EAA (European Association of Archaeologists). I was also a lecturer in anthropology at the University of Paris Nanterre for 9 years and ATER in socio-anthropology at the University of Orléans. My research focuses on the work of the archaeological researcher and the construction of knowledge and science in relation to Prehistory. In view of the socio-technical changes that the study of this period has undergone since the 1940s, I am interested in the behind-the-scenes lives of its scholars, seeking to understand how the work of the past concretely affects bodies, matter and daily life. By following the shadows left by the "patrons" of prehistoric archaeology, on excavation sites, in archives and museums, I describe the ways of doing and being behind the scenes while identifying the mechanisms of invisibilisation of work. I develop my ethnographic investigations in France and in Israel from methodological approaches turned towards audiovisual and documentary.
